Eating Out with Trunk Club
I’m turning 30 this year. Something about the shift into my 30’s has inspired me to really figure out my personal style. I want to express myself outwardly as I feel on the inside — elegant, relaxed, a little rock and roll.
Usually if I put together a great outfit, I’m heading out to eat or drink something delicious with friends. Fun fact: a new study from Trunk Club shows that over half of Americans consider deciding on an outfit to be the most stressful part of dining out -- 23% have skipped a dinner event because they couldn’t figure out what to wear! So I thought it would be fun share with you a few outfits for eating out in collaboration with Trunk Club — a personal styling service that curates outfits tailored to your taste and delivered right to your front door.
One of the BEST things about Trunk Club is that unlike similar online services the stylist on the other end is a real human who will work tirelessly to find exactly what you want. All of the stylists have extensive hands-on training and I think it really shines through in the process. You can also easily exchange sizes and return items with pre-paid return labels via UPS pickup/drop-off services.
My main interest in a styling service like this is finding statement pieces that represent my personal style and that will last for ages. I was able to explain exactly what I like (and what I hate) to my stylist and she did a great job sourcing pieces. I love that I could request more sustainable options as well as specific fabrics (like raffia, beads, pleather, silk or cashmere).
I’m pretty busy so it’s really convenient to have a wardrobe pro select a bunch a cool pieces for me while I’m busy cooking up a storm, responding to emails or out on a photoshoot. All I need to do is say, “yes I love that” or “no — could you send me some other options?” And she switches it all up in a snap.
Since you’re able to see a preview of your Trunk before it sends, I had my stylist swap out items so she had a better understanding of my style and make sure the Trunk felt like me. My Trunk included two sustainable Reformation dresses, a satin pleated skirt, white western ankle boots, a terra-cotta denim cropped jacket, a vintage-look Tiger tee and an amazing beaded tote.
I can’t tell you how many compliments I received just walking around Downtown Richmond!
The Outfits

This is the sort of outfit I would wear for a chill date night at a semi-upscale restaurant with my husband. The dress is form fitting with puff sleeves and a long slit — a balance of sexy, romantic and sweet. The thick heel navy ankle boots and a vintage panama hat help make the outfit feel more relaxed. As you can see I tend to go for the pineapple/coconut flavored tiki drinks ;)

Rattlesnake
My favorite outfit of all. The rattlesnake design on this dress is super soft and feminine, and the drape of the skirt is really flowy. I personally think wrap dresses look amazing on everyone, but (in my biased opinion) especially on more pear-shaped bodies like mine. I’m a B-cup and was able to wear this dress without a bra — always a plus!
Because of the wrap style the bottom half of the dress would open slightly to peak my legs out, the fabric draping down towards the earth whenever I sat down. I’ve never owned white boots before — these subtly western ones are so chic and look great with a white dress. Now I might just buy a few more pairs of white boots!
The bag is perfect for transitioning to Fall. The vintage 70’s color palette is warm and earthy. I feel like I can wear it with almost anything all year long to pump up the glamour a touch.

I love a good trip to the ice cream shop! A thick pleated olive satin skirt, vintage tee and terra-cotta jean jacket are just the right amount of chill for a low-key date-night or just hanging with the girls. I paired the outfit with a fiery, orange, slide-on suede heel. Toasted marshmallow fluff really rounds out the vibe, don’t you think?
