Matcha Green Tea Powder + Raw Honey + Macadamia Nut Oil + Essential Oils. These ingredients make up one of my all time favorite face masks that’s great for ALL skin types.

I like to call it the “Wicked Skin” mask because it turns your face as GREEN as the wicked witch of the west — but more importantly it is most definitely going to get your skin glowing!

This easy, luxurious skin-care DIY is:

  • Incredibly easy to throw together.

  • Finished in 5 minutes or less.

  • Creamy and smooth on the skin.

  • Heavenly smelling.

  • The key to gently reducing redness.

  • Hydrating for dry skin.

  • Supportive of natural skin oil production.

  • Great for sensitive skin.

  • Made with all-natural, Organic ingredients.

  • Anti-aging and anti-bacterial.

I created this DIY as a way to uplevel one of my all-time favorite skin-care practices — the pure raw honey face mask.

I’ve been use raw honey as a face mask for about two years now. I simply wet my face and spread raw honey over my skin and let it sit for 20 minutes. Raw honey alone improves skin hydration, protects against harmful bacteria and supports the skin's natural acid mantle balance. It’s my #1 beauty secret for supporting natural radiance (although since I tell everyone about it, it’s not really THAT secret!).

Raw honey masks prove that you don’t need complex or expensive products to have great skin! Yet another reason we all ought to revere and appreciate bees.

In this mask I’ve added Organic matcha green tea powder from Mountain Rose Herbs for a burst of skin-clarifying chlorophyll and rejuvenating antioxidants. When applied topically, matcha is known to reduce puffiness and dark circles by improving blood circulation.

Macadamia nut oil offers luxurious hydration and smoothing — one of the worlds most amazing natural beauty ingredients. Macadamia oil, like jojoba oil, is very similar to our natural sebum (skin oil). For this reason it’s very effective at moisturizing skin and balancing natural oil production.

I’ve also added a few essential oils I favor in skin formulations. Frankincense, sandalwood, rose and geranium. I also love adding 2 drops blue chamomile when I have it on hand. This combo produces a lovely, intoxicating aroma (spicy, woodsy, floral). And these essential oils together help with puffy skin and are balancing without being aggravating.

To make this concoction simply mix everything together in a bowl with a spoon and store in a sealed jar. Keep scrolling down to get the full DIY instructions.

Matcha Honey Face Mask DIY

prep time: 5 mins - makes: ~ 2.25 ounces

Notes: 1. This is an all skin-type friendly DIY project, appropriate for sensitive skin. 2. Be sure to keep water out of your product as it will cause fermentation over time.

Ingredients

Method

  1. In a small bowl combine the matcha green tea powder, raw honey, macadamia nut oil and essential oils. Stir together until you have a thick paste. For increased shelf stability you can optionally add 1/8 tsp vitamin e oil. Transfer to a clean, completely dry jar and store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

  2. To use: wet hands and face with warm (not hot) water. Scoop out a quarter sized dollop of the paste into your hands and rub it between wet palms to warm and smooth it. Spread evenly over your whole face and neck. If it’s sticky and hard to apply, simply re-wet your face for smoother application.

  3. Let set for 15-20 minutes for best results (can stay on for longer with no harm). Wash off with warm water using a soft cloth. Follow with a spritz of your favorite toner or hydrosol (flower water) and moisturizer as needed. Enjoy glowing skin!
